The article is devoted to the problem of using the method “case study” in teaching the English language for business and professional communication. The basis of the method is a real, topical, problem situation which needs discussion. The article analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of the method “case study”. This method is expedient to be appled for the formation of communicative, linguistic, subjective, methodological and sociolinguistic competencies of the future specialists.
