Issues on determining the transfer function of the step-down buck converter in the continuous conduction mode in the presence of an additional resistance connected in series with the capacitor are constdered. The derivation of the transfer function is accomplished by averaging the differential equations of the converter in state-space and subsequent linearization. It is shown that introducting a resistance in series in the capacitor results in a zero in the transfer function, that is in an increase in the stability margins.
