The article presents an analysis of the demographic indicators of the urban areas of the Tambov region. A comparative analysis of the implementation of the national project "Demography" has been carried out. Territories - leaders and problem municipalities have been identified. Recommendations have been developed on the existing non-fulfillment of this federal project in the territories. For a more detailed analysis on the stated topic, the city of Morshansk of the Tambov region was chosen.
