The growing interest in MAX-phases is explained by the unusual and, sometimes, unique set of mechanical properties, which is due to the nature of their particular crystalline structure, as well as the mobility of the dislocations of the basic slip systems even at room temperature. A typical and most studied representative of MAX phases is the compound Ti3AlC2.
The possibility of obtaining powders of FeSi, Ti, Al and soot taken at different ratios of a new type of MAX phase with ferromagnetic properties from different mixtures, FeSi was studied using the SHS method. The optimal synthesis conditions for obtaining the MAX phase with the formula (Fe,Ti) 3 (Al, Si) C2 are selected. The results of a preliminary experiment showed that a powder product can be obtained from a mixture of ferrosilicon, titanium, aluminum and carbon black powders using the SHS method, in which the content of the MAX phase according to the formula (Fe,Ti)3 (Al,Si)C2 is 90% by mass and 6 % content of inclusions of iron-rich crystals of Fe5Si3, Fe3Si and FeSi, which gives the main mass magnetic properties. as well as 2% Al4C3, 1% Ti5Si3 and 1% TiC, which is 4% by weight. The results of the experiment were confirmed by the method of x-ray spectral analysis.
The microstructure of such a MAX material synthesized by powder metallurgy (CB synthesis) has a layered, laminate nature with magnetic properties and can be a good raw material for the further development of powder metallurgy and information technology in Armenia.
