The formation, by the DC-magnetron method, of Ag + Fe-doped zinc oxide compositions of the antibacterial drug doxycycline (DOXY) in order to enhance the antibacterial activity in comparison with the original drug is considered DC magnetron sputtering Zn/Ag/Fe (Zn - 96%, Ag - 2%, Fe - 2%,) targets in an Ar:O2 gas mixture, in a vacuum of 10-3 mm Hg on the surface of DOXY coatings and DOXY composite films with polyvinyl alcohol, PVA (DOXY + PVA), nanosized ZnO/Ag/Fe particles are applied. The optimal technological parameters for the preparation of Ag+Fe-doped doxycycline zinc oxide composites have been determined. X-ray diffraction studies have shown the presence of polycrystalline ZnO/Ag/Fe/ samples on the surface of the glass substrate oriented along 100, 002, and 110 crystallographic directions. However, ZnO/Ag/Fe/, on the surface of the DOXY and DOXY+PVA coatings are textured along the 002 crystallographic direction.
In vitro studies using paper discs showed that Ag+Fe doped zinc oxide composites of the antibiotic DOXY in the form of coatings (DOXY+ZnO) and composite films with PVA (DOXY+PVA+ZnO) on gram-negative (Escherichia coli) and gram-positive (Bacillus subtilis L2, Bacillus cereus) strains bacteria showed large zones of inhibition compared to the original preparation. The comparison of FTIR spectra of DOXY and their ZnO/Ag/Fe compositions showed the presence of new bands of stretching and bending vibrations of hydroxyl and amide groups. It is assumed that the interaction between ZnO/Ag/Fe and DOXY occurs in the form of a hydrogen bond, which facilitates the formation of complexes. It is possible that both the synergistic effect and the hydrogen bonds Increase the antibacterial activity of the ZnO / Ag / Fe compositions DOXY.
