Abstract

The superpixel segmentation of an image creates a small number of perceptually uniform segments called superpixels, substituting the pixels, and thus easing the process of segmentation at the next stages. The Simple Linear Iterative Clustering (SLIC) algorithm that uses the CIE76 formula for color-difference computation is studied. It is proposed to use the computationally more evolved and sophisticated CIEDE2000 formula to enhance the SLIC.
