THE NAMES OF THE CONCEPTS OF CASTLE, FORTRESSIN ARMENIAN

In this article,the names of the concepts “Castle, fortress” in Armenian have been studied.We have focused on both the words denoting castle, fortress in their first meaning and the words which have acquired this very meaning due to semantic changes. These words are analyzed according to the unique association of Ed. Aghayan’s and G. Jahukyan’s word formation theories. We have also dwelt upon their etymology, semantic transformations in the course of time, their semantic changes according to the principles of semantic changes and the result of semantic evolution.
