Abstract

As a result of activities of the mining and metallurgical complex enterprises in Republic of Armenia, production tailings containing toxic elements harmful to human health and the environment were formed. In addition, a significant part of valuable metals contained in the minerals developed in the technological processes of the complex is lost with the production tailings and extracted products.

There is a need to neutralize the industrial tailings as a hotbed of environmental hazards in Republic of Armenia and to fully extract various metals contained in them and subsurface resources that are of basic importance for the development of the economy of the county. To solve these problems, the best option is put forward, the essence of which is to modernize the technologies operating at the enterprises of the mining and metallurgical industry. According to the reasons given in the paper, the priority direction is the introduction of metallurgical technologies for the development of metal-bearing technogenic products of enterprises of this industry. In this regard, the composition of the technogenic product of the metallurgical industry by the content of metals has been studied, since these indicators are necessary in the future for making decisions of technical and economic nature.

In this work, in order to study the technogenic product of the RA mineral raw materials accepted as a source material, methods of microscopic examination of the mineralogical composition of ore, x-ray phase analysis of metal elements and compounds, as well as chemical methods of decomposition of elements are used. The data obtained show that the studied technogenic source material is a product based on silica, which, in addition to corundum, oxide and sulfide compounds of iron, contains oxides of manganese, chromium, nickel, titanium and chemical compounds based on iron that are resistant to chemical interactions.
