HYDROGEN CHALLENGE AT NUCLEAR POWER UNITS WITH THE WWER-440 REACTOR AT A SEVERE ACCIDENT

Abstract

The aims of severe accident management at NPPs are described, paying a special attention to the hydrogen challenge issue in the ANPP. The representativeness of several accidents from the standpoint of hydrogen challenge is justified. Different strategies of the hydrogen challenge decrease are discussed. The minimal mass of hydrogen whose burning can lead to the loss of confinement integrity is assessed.
