The mechanisms of destruction of ceramic materials at the impact of the core of a bullet of high hardness and speed are considered. It is shown that at the initial stage of the impact of the ball core the ceramics are destroyed in the immediate local contact volume of the “ceramic core”. The course of the further development of the decay is described. The influence of the armor structure on the functional characteristics of the ceramic layer is observed. The effectiveness of the protective capabilities of a two-layer body armor is shown.
