Abstract

Ligaments of diamond-metal tools, and the factors, affecting the durability of tools used in stone processing are investigated. The ways to improve the durability of tools, including the metallization of diamond grains and the application of new ligaments as a matrix are considered. It is proposed to use a mixture of copper and tin with a 4:1 ratio, and as alloying elements - nickel, cobalt or iron (8…10%), as a hard filler boron carbide (1…3%) and gray cast iron (4…18%) which provides a self-sharpening condition and increases the antifriction characteristics of tools.
