Paracetamol (P-acetylaminophenol, acetaminophen (chemical name is N-(4hydroxyphenyl)acetamide) is one of the most popular and most commonly used analgesic and antipyretic drugs around the world. Having an analgesic effect, paracetamol is an integral part of a number of medications.
As an antipyretic, this drug is used in the treatment of fever, and as an analgesic for mild and moderate pain: headaches, back pain, osteoarthritis, etc. Paracetamol is a welltolerated drug and causes few side effects from the gastrointestinal tract.
The synthesis of p-acetylaminophenol by acylation of p–aminophenol with acetic anhydride under conditions of heterogeneous catalysis has been studied. Natural H – clinoptilolite was used as a catalyst.
The purpose of this work is to study the kinetics of the paracetamol synthesis reaction and analyze the resulting kinetic equation. To determine the coefficients of the kinetic equation, a full factorial experiment (FFE) of dimension 23 and regression analysis were implemented for which an experiment planning matrix was compiled. All statistical parameters are calculated for the 5% significance level, i.e. for a confidence probability of 0.95.
The independent variables varied in the ranges: temperature: 20 - 60C, and the initial concentrations of the starting substances: p-aminophenol and acetic anhydride - in the range of 5.0 - 15.0 mol/ l.
With the help of the LabVIEW graphical programming environment, the Control Design and Simulation 2018 module, the analysis of the obtained kinetic equation was performed. As a result, it is established that the obtained kinetic equation can be used in the calculation of the reactor for the synthesis of paracetamol.
