Abstract

Chemical materials of both natural and artificial origin, can adversely affect the human and the environment. Based on this, there is a need to compile comprehensive information on their physical and chemical properties, as well as the possibilities of their usage, and in case of wastes – the possibility of their utilization.

At present, there is no comprehensive information available in Armenia on the chemicals used in corresponding organizations. In addition, they are not registered, moreover, utilized properly. The lack of such information results in accumulation of chemicals and industrial wastes which ultimately ends up in the irrational use of natural resources. In order to ensure the safety of chemicals and wastes in storage places, it is necessary to compile an accurate list, i.e. range them by their degree of hazard which will enable to organize their proper storage.

At National Polytechnic University of Armenia, compiling a register of chemicals and wastes is being filed, mainly for the purpose of their systematization and rational use. The presence of an appropriate database will significantly reduce the amount of expired substances which, in the future will not require storing, consequently, the neutralization and decomposition and further financial resources will not be necessary.
