Abstract

The pharmaceutical industry in Armenia is rapidly developing, expanding not only production capacity but also the number of drugs produced. Pharmaceutical production generates solid waste and liquid waste. Currently, liquid waste is diluted with water at a ratio of 1:100 and discharged into nearby water bodies. It should be noted that large quantities of expired medications are generated by pharmacies, medical institutions, and individuals. They ultimately end up in organized and unorganized landfills, creating environmental problems.

A number of authors, having used waste from pharmaceuticals and antibiotics in the production of cement and concrete, have demonstrated their positive impact on the technical and economic performance of concrete and reinforced concrete products and structures.

The aim of this study is to use waste pharmaceuticals-amoxiclav and dexpanthenone-to improve the strength properties of concrete. Positive results are obtained: the compressive strength of concrete increased by 61% with the use of amoxiclav waste, and by 48% with the use of dexpanthenone waste, compared to using pure water.
