PROBLEMS OF ORGANIZING URBAN PUBLIC TRANSPORT IN YEREVAN AND WAYS OF THEIR SOLUTION

The problem of organizing modern urban public transport in Yerevan is complicated and complex. It cannot be solved only by carrying out separate actions. A systematic and comprehensive approach is needed with the simultaneous implementation of technical, organizational, economic, legal and social measures to ensure a consistently high quality of transport services. For this, an assessment of the Transport Complex Development Index and its components, the development of a set of measures in a single context, to ensure the quality of transport services, can become an effective tool.
Today, in the world, there are integral indices of statistical study of the development of the transport sector in cities and regions of the world. Such indices are developed only by official statistical bodies, international and national research centers, and independent analytical companies. Based on the assessment of the level of development of the transport
industry, international authoritative organizations compile global ratings that largely characterize the competitiveness of a country or region in the global economy.
In 2023, the city of Yerevan entered the top twenty safe cities in the world, taking the 19th position among 417 cities, however, the quality of transport services for residents of the capital still remains in the last position, despite the ongoing activities and programs of the city leadership. The efficiency of public transport directly affects the quality of life, socio-economic indicators, stability of development and safety of the city, where the main financial, economic, human and material resources of the republic are concentrated.
To improve the quality of transport services for residents and guests of Yerevan, as well as to solve problems in the field of public transport, an integrated approach and assessment of the Development Index of the transport complex of Yerevan, taking into account all components, is necessary.
